license for Windows 2000 on second hand computer

I just purchased a used computer that had Windows 2000
Professional loaded. I am not sure what operating system
the computer was loaded with when new. Is there a way to
determine if I am using licensed software? Is there a way
to license it?

If you are using a microsoft OS and have the license
*and* the OS is not installed on another machine...you should be OK...

from a legal standpoint you do need the license
