I used the m/b's usb connector to enable 2 of the front usb ports(USB 1.1)
on my Lian-Li PC60 case.
I experienced a number of problems including:

After removing a usb flash memory device I could no
longer access drives in windows explorer

After shutting down normally and later restarting,
Windows XP Pro would "hang" at the intro screen
(i..e, the one with the moving bar at the bottom).
By hitting reset and starting over from there system
booted normally.

My card reader could not be detected.

I disconnected the front usb connectors and all returned to normal,
including being able to use the extra usb's on
the game port.

Any ideas on troubleshooting this ......ie., to be able to use the front USB
ports.

I cannot be certain with respect to your particular mobo/case combo,
but I have seen with other mobo/case combos that the cable supplied
with the case is not acceptable for use with USB due to design flaws
(improper shielding or failure to use twisted pair wires for example).
Maybe you should contact Lian Li and see if they have had any negative
feedback and/or a replacement cable.
