I bought an LG L1715S monitor recently because my CRT was making my head
hurt after a while (even at 85Hz) and it had become quite blurry.
Anyway, the display is nice and crisp, but the intensity range is
just... wrong. And I don't know whether this is the result of buying a
low-end TFT or whether there's something wrong with the display unit.
Basically, black (a screen filled with 0,0,0 in, say, Microsoft Paint)
appears as a kind of grey purple. Even with the Brightness at 0 and
contrast anywhere between 0 and 100.
I've also made sure that my graphics card isn't doing anything to the
gamma signal in the display settings.
There's also a pale area in the centre of the screen that radiates out
to the corners getting darker as it goes.
I've not read of similar problems, but wondering whether it's duff or
just a cheap-ass TFT.
Cheers,
Nick
