I have a lexmark x75 and unfortunately no matter what I do, it doesn't
feed the paper in straight. I've tried all of the obvious things.
Grateful for any help.
Does anyone know if this is a common problem with these printers and,
if so, does anyone know the cure?
Thanks
Chris
The problem might be the rubber wheels feeding the paper. After a
while, they can dry out, harden, and/or accumulate crud from the air
and paper that will cause the wheels to grip unevenly. If you can
reach them with a Q-tip, you can clean them with a mild soap and water
solution. It'd be better, if you can disassemble it to clean them
more thoroughly but that's not always practical. In theory, just
like with a VCR, the rubber bits should be replaced every 3-5 years,
but most people just buy a new one at that point -- and the x75
printers are getting into that age now. Hopefully, it's just a little
too much paper dust interfering with gripping on one side.
Don't use alcohol to clean them. While it can help in the short term,
it'll just speed up the drying and hardening of the rubber.

Other than that, I guess you could put less paper into the hopper and
maybe fan the stack a bit before plunking it down to ensure the sheets
aren't sticking.
Just curious, what "obvious things" have you tried?
