Lexmark X73 and XP

I am having problems getting the X73 USB to print. I have
tried to clean and install several times. XP cannot
communicate with the printer. Cannot print a test page.
Scanner and copier work fine. Please Note: I have the
latest drivers from the web as well as the patch. Has
anyone gotten an X73 to work with XP?

It's a Lexmark.

Follow Bruce Sanderson's instructions on how to unisntall and reinstall your
printer... pay particular attention to the paragraph on Lexmark printer. Do
NOT miss out on any steps.

When you're ready to reinstall, download a new set of drivers from the
Lexmark website at www.lexmark.com and install the software BEFORE
connecting the printer.

I am having problems loading the printer drivers on a x85
it locks up when it looks for the "usbscan"file and will
not continue . I have downloaded the new drivers and the
patch

Scanner always worked fine every time I installed them on a fresh XP OS.
Trouble is after any MS Security Update they stopped working. Try
migrating your user settings, save them to a CD or another HD, FDISK the
OS HD, install a new OS, apply the latest Service Pack, then reinstall
the Lexmark. Install all your software, then Import your stored user
settings. The Lexmark site even says to reinstall OS to resolve this
problem.
