I've just deployed 8 Lexmark X5150 3-in-1 printers with
new E-Machine T2245 PC's. All are running XP Professional
with most current updates.
With all workstations, I have experienced intermittent
print queue hang-ups. It could be the first job of the day
or a job behind many others (of exact output). The job
simply hangs in the queue stopping all printing. It may
not happen for a day and then return a few days later.
Lexmark must be aware of the problem as a temporary "fix"
is in their top 10 list on their support site. However,
they don't admit to a problem with their driver causing it
and do not address the cause. I simply cannot have rather
novice users having to login as administrator and running
NET STOP SPOOLER and restarting machines several times a
day.
I've since been in touch with Lexmark and they say their
driver is fine and don't seem to want to recognize the
problem even though, as I've noted, it appears on their
support site with a varied description. Obviously enough
users have had the problem of a hanging queue that they
put it up under the FAQs.
If anyone has seen a solution to this problem or knows
what the actual cause might be, please let me know. We are
running the latest version of the Lexmark printer driver.
