Lexmark - What scan settings to use for scanning homework?

My sister bought a Lexmark printer. I didn't check the model while I
was there but I am guessing it is a Lexmark P4350. I would like her to
be able to scan homework sheets and send them to me on a dial-up
connection.

I messed with it just a little while I was there hooking it up. Making
a B&W photo clear copy makes a 2 Meg file for a single sheet paper.
2Megs is way too large. I made a pdf file that was about 250k using
the lowest dpi settings but unfortunately I didn't check the quality
until I got home and checked my email. The Pdf was not readable.

What settings should she use to make a reasonably clear file? Also, is
there a way to automate scanning more than one sheet at a time without
having to assign file types and filenames each sheet?

LEXMARK IS TOTAL GARBAGE. BRINGIT BACK AND GET A CANON IP5200

One lesson school won't teach you is that there are idiots like measekite
who like hearing theyselves talk, no matter that they know nothing or (in
some cases) seek to deliberately mislead. My Spanish teacher was always
saying "there's always the 10%" but this guy makes them look like geniuses.

150 dpi is usually readble. If you want a smaller file size, copy in
grayscale instead of color.

Thanks for your suggestion.

It took about 2 sec. access Measekite's credentials. I wondered for a
second what his motives were, then it passed. I don't care.
