Hi,

I am looking for a laser printer to replace our A3 HP inkjet.
At the moment I have narrowed it down to either a Lexmark W812N or an HP
5100 A3 monochrome - the Lexmark is ahead on price (by quite a bit) & on
components/performance (slightly according to the sales stuff).
I have used HP's for years & the only Lexmarks I have encountered previously
have been budget home models......
Can anyone give me some feedback regarding the reliability of the Lexmark?

Thanks in advance.

Look at the cost of the comsumables like, Toner, Fuser, Pick up rollers. Then go
out there and try to find a parts supplier for each manufacturers. Don't just
look at the initial cost of the printer.

We Have Lexmark Optra W810s and they are a nice printer, but the per
page cost was two to four times that of the HP9000 which replaced
them. And to boot the HP's have less doors to brake......... The
students where always using a bigger hammer to open the printer
braking the covers much more than once a term. The HPs have been
runing 2 years now, and there are no broken parts other than the
expendables. Two of the old lexmarks are in a public area and two
broken covers..... But in a controlled office setting no problems at
all, but the usage is not 1,000,000 pages a year so the running cost
difference is not a problem.
