Hello,

I use Lexmark newtwork printers which use a printer port
created by lexmark software for IP-based printing over the
ethernet. It works great, except the server 2000 terminal
server can't see it for some reason?? THE DRIVER IS
INSTALLED ON THE SERVER.

When you say "can't see it" does that mean the server
can't connect to the printer or that the server isn't
seeing the printer when it attempts to connect to the
client's printer?

If it is the latter, then make sure the client is using
the latest version of the RDP client, as previous versions
didn't map network printers.

Also, are there any eventlog entries associated with this
problem?

Oh...and by the way, you should be very careful when
loading printer drivers onto a terminal server. If the
printer driver fails, it can cause your spooler to crash,
or worse, it can cause your entire terminal server to blue
screen.

Are you using the Lexmark Z series printers? We had a few
clients using the Z series printer and we couldn't get
them to work either. We spoke to Lexmark and the Z series
printers are not supported in a Terminal Server
environment.

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this will help but within our company we
use an ad-on product called "screwdrivers" by tricerat
software (www.tricerat.com) This product is great. it
allows you to print in terminal server session to the
local printer installed on the client machine. no more
having printer drivers on the server. Also, you just
install the printer on the local machine as you nornmally
would (no unc or mapping) and it works. It works with all
printers and connection types (local LPT and networked
printers) The printing request is sent directly to the
client machine printer. We have been using if for a
while now with no problems. they have a 30 day trial
download. You may want to check it out.
