Lexmark All-in-1 won't network from A to B; B to A is OK

I have a two PC wireless network at home. Both PC's run Windows 2000.
I've been happily using a Lexmark X75 inkjet from PC-A for a year. I
now need to move the printer to operate off PC-B, which had a webcam
installed on the same USB port that the printer now uses.

When the printer is connected to the USB port on PC-A, it can be used
from either system. When I plug the printer into the USB port on
PC-B, then PC-B prints OK (effectively to the local printer) but PC-A
doesn't. Even a test print from PC-A appears in the printer info
window on PC-B, but won't start to print. The size column reports
something like '4/1.08mb' but the printing won't start.

I've de-installed, re-installed, rebooted, powered up, down, sideways
and even cleaned the microwave oven in case that was somehow related.

Nada.

Can anyone suggest some more fruitful avenues of exploration before I
throw something that I will regret?

Cheers

JR

Do you have exactly the same printer driver version on both computers? See
http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/support.cgi for Lexmark printer drivers.

What shows in the "Status" column in the printer info window?

Does the "document" disappear from the printer info window on PC-B by
itself?

Verify that whatever user account is logged on at PC-A has Print permission
on that printer on PC-B.
Verify that the special group "CREATOR OWNER" has Manage Documents
permission on the printer on PC-B.
