Level3 vs Cogent Website fails but?

There's a website that suddenly started failing about the time the Level3 vs
Cogent deal hit the press. Tracert does find the website(tracert
www.website.com) after 14 hops yet IE6 keeps reporting the website as
unavailable. Are there any settings or things to look at/adjust? Is there
any online website that will test if another website is operational from
that other website's perspective(indirect browser or some such)?

What is the real URL you are trying to use? <eg>
BTW in case it is a problem with your DNS it could also help
if you disclosed the IP address you are getting from the lookup
your tracert is doing.

Also, if the website does an immediate redirect, tracert would only show you
that you should be getting the redirect. Externally, IE would show you
nothing different if that redirect site was unavailable too.

telnet 80 is a better diagnostic for this case anyway.
If you're lucky the site would respond to just GET /
(That's GET<space><slash><Enter>.
Unless you set telnet's localecho option you do not see your typing.
(Entering telnet without options is one way to start if you want to use
the set command first.)

I'm not sure but I think that an anonymous proxy might have to provide
such a service to supplement its features. I'm only mentioning it as
a search term that you could try for further research. I have never used
one myself.

Good luck
