i can't get the high detail level on my calendar high and low are the same,

Version of Outlook? What do you see and what do you expect to see? do you
have timed appointments? In Outlook 2007, the high setting shows everything,
the low setting hides timed appointments and shows all day events, so if you
only have all day events you won't notice a difference.

i have outlook 2007, on high i see one all day calendar event and down arrows
indicating that there are more events. if there are two all day events, only
one shows and no timed appointments.

is outlook maximized? You need to make the window as large as possible -
turn off toolbars, increase resolution etc. (I have 4 items visible with 800
pixel high window - 1 toolbar row and the status bar visible)
