I have a Dell Dimension 4400 that has Microsoft XP. I
bought the computer May of 2002. Last Sunday the
computer crashed. I contacted Dell and they walked me
through installation of the Microsoft XP that came in the
CDs provided by Dell at the time of purchase. That XP
program is not the same as the XP that was installed at
the time I purchased the computer. I had no problem
installing programs or hardware with the original XP.
(NOTE) With this XP I can't even install the printer that
was installed before the crash even though I downloaded a
driver from Hewlett Packard.

We use this computer primarily for homeschooling and must
have Microsoft works, Letters & labels. When I go to
Task or Programs there is no Letters & Labels available.
In one of the loading windows it gives a sample picture
that shows the Letters & Labels; however, that task is
not on the list.

I tried to load CD Microsoft Works Suite 2002 disk 1 that
came with the computer, thinking the Letters & Labels
task would be there. The program appears to be
installing software until a window pops up requesting a
Product Code. That code is not on the CD or its case.

Questions: Is the Letters & Labels task on that CD and
if it is what is the Product Code I need?

Thanks much!

You almost have it (although I don't know why That XP program is not the
same as the XP that was installed at the time I purchased the
computer"). "Letters & Lables" is almost certainly in Microsoft Works
Suite, and you did the correct thing in attempting to reinstall it from
the CD that came with your computer. Now what you have to do is call
Dell back and ask for the product code.
