How do I change the lettering, to make them larger? I have a very
difficult time trying to read these small letters.
Small lettering where? There are several places where fonts can be
adjusted.
For Windows in general:
Method 1: Changing the desktop resolution: Making the desktop smaller will
make objects and text appear larger. To do this: Right click the desktop
and select Properties. On the Settings page, move the slider for desktop
size to the left a notch or two. Be sure to choose a setting that is for
your monitor. Examples: 1600x1200; 1280x1024; 1024x768 (default setting for
XP if hardware and drivers are capable of this resolution).
Method 2: Many of the LCD monitors have "optimal" desktop sizes. Using a
setting different than the optimal can cause blurriness in text and images.
In this case, you can try changing the desktop size but if the results are
not desirable, there is another way to fix this. Change the desktop back to
the optimal setting. Then in Display Properties> Settings, click the
Advanced button. On the DPI page, change from "Normal" to "Large."
For programs: While many programs will use the global font setting for
Windows, some offer their own font controls. Open the program and check the
menus for a setting that controls the appearance of the program's fonts.
Choose a font that is pleasing to you and in a size that is easy to read.
NOTE: You can check the program's help file to see if this feature is
offered by the program. Details should include step by step directions for
accomplishing this task.
Internet Explorer: This is one of those programs that allows you to adjust
the size of fonts. As long as a font size has not been dictated by the
author of a web page (poor web design to do this!), the setting can enlarge
or reduce the size of the fonts displayed on a web page. Setting is found
here: Open Internet Explorer. Click the View menu. Under Text Size, you'll
see Small, Medium, Large and Larger. Default setting is Medium. Click
another size to change text size.
There are more settings in IE to adjust font type and font size (inside the
Internet Options control panel applet) but the above setting is usually all
that is needed.
