Length of time to open web page

I recentley updated my computer and installed IE 6. When I had it before you would see the hourglass as you were waiting for the page to open and would see the bar filling below. Sometimes now there isn't an hourglass, or I have to click repeatedly to get a response and the bar to fill on the bottom. It seems to take forever for pages to open up. It wasn't like that before, what could it be? Is there some kind of update to improve this? It's driving me crazy.

Go directly the Windows Update site to get the latest updates
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Clear your cache. Delete all temporary internet files and cookies. Make
sure your system time and date is correct.
