The legal issues can't really be addressed here, as that is going to depend
on the music and the usage that you're putting it to. Any *legal* advice you
get here would be worth as much as the cost of typing your post into a
public, unmonitored forum like this.
Certainly if the music is *protected* you won't be able to usefully embed it
in another file (like a PowerPoint or movie file). The protection would have
to be removed before you can do any editing (such as by burning it to an
audio CD and re-ripping it to an unprotected file). If you have technical
issues with working with media files in PowerPoint, they should go to a
PowerPoint newsgroup.
