We have some acocunting softwate (Creative Solutions) for which the
writeup part was discontinued, so we have to use a ten year old
version from DOS that writes to HP 4si format. I rediteced that to a
text file using orn2file but it is fullof jibberish. How can I convert
the jibberish to something readable.

Most HP printers work with either HP's proprietary Printer Command
Language or PostScript. If your text file happens to be PostScript, it
can be viewed by Apple's Preview. You may have to add a .PS suffix to
the filename to get Preview to open it. Preview can then save the file
as .PDF.

If it is not PostScript, perhaps the DOS version's print routines can be
changed to produce it.
