Hi,

I can't seem to get a sound card driver installed on this one computer. It
is a ASUS TUSI-M motherboard, socket 370, SiS 630 AGP Chipset with onboard
sound. The onboard sound chip is a Cmedia 8738PCI Audio Chipset, however, I
can't seem to get the driver installed on it. The user claims that it was
working before , but suddenly there was no sound one day. I checked the
device manager and it only indicated "Legacy Audio" device. On other
machines with the exact model of soudn chip, it read "CM 8738" in addition
to the "legacy audioo" driver.

PC audio is already enabled in BIOS.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?

Thanks.
Peter

Thanks for your reply,

But I formatted the hard disk and reinstalled the Chipset and it solved the
problem.

I don't know why the CMI 8738 chipset driver would not install . Even when
I clicked on the CMI 8738 setup.exe file, the computer screen would just say
"wait a few minutes while the driver installs" and then nothing would
happen.

But now after I formatted it and I did the same procedure it worked and it
finished installing the driver.

Did you delete the "legacy audio" from the evice manager? that works
for me when I install drivers for a device windows installs it's own
defualt drivers.
