No matter what I've tried, when I have IE windows open, the left frame search
window opens, with a google search window. How do I get rid of this as it
cuts down my viewing area, and I just don't want it!!
Thanks for your help

I am having the same problem.I changed the search engine but the problem
remains.Any help would be appriciated.

Close all but one IE window. Close the search pane in that window. Then
close the last window. Restart IE.

If that doesn't help, deleting the following registry keys may be of
assistance (with IE closed):

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Thank you!! I had tried the first easy way... and figured it had to be in
the registry keys. Deleting those two keys seems to have done the trick!

btw... the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement
reappeared... anyway to track downwhat is causing that to appear again???

Do you have the Google toolbar installed by any chance? Are you sure it is
the Google search site that is appearing? The reason I ask is I don't think
Google even provides a search pane embedded search service. I would check
for malware.
