Leaving computer on 24/7

This is not a W2K problem, but maybe some folks here have experience on
this.

I have a 2.5 GHZ custom computer, good parts, assembled by local tech. His
opinion was turn it off if not using it for 8 hours.

My experience with W98SE and somewhat with W2K is that a cold boot each AM
can lead to some surprise or other in a program- icons change for instance.

So I have been leaving it on for the past 3 months, no ill effects AFAIK.
(43% memory use). The room stays at 70-79 degrees.

Is it safe to leave the computer running 24/7?

Only situation I would see leaving it on 24/7 is every once in a bit
shut it down and blow the dust monsters out of it..... ;0)

Yep, not a problem.

I was just able to check:
CPU: 101 degrees, I believe well below maximum.
Hard drive: 81 degrees, just a few degrees above room temperature, assume
this is normal rise.

OK

One of my Ex-boyfriends had a Window NT 3.51 machine that hadn't been
shut down in 4 years, and I doubt he's shut it down now. which would
put it close to 14.

Well except for those annoying little shutdowns when you load up new
DLLs or add in another hard drive.
