I have an iP4000. It is working fine. Is it better to leave iton or should I
turn it off every night?

Personally, I've set my iP5000 to turn itself on when there is a print job,
then to turn itself off after 30 minutes. I can't see leaving something on
if you're not using it.

Hello,

The printer is meant to go into a idle mode, this is due to the fuser
unit.
If your printer stayed on constantly your fuser lamp which basically
heats your fuser will malfunction before it's replacement date.

So if the printer isn't being used let's say for 15 mintues it tells
itself shut down, and the fuser goes asleep, until you need to print
again and then it wakes up or in your case it warms up.

Hope this was useful.

I don't believe inkjets have fuser units, only laser printers.
