As a former C++ programmer I picked up on C# rather
quickly, you probably will too.

I did buy a reference book though to help me out. I'm a
fan of the Wrox books, so I bought Professional C# Second
Edition. I think its a pretty good book, however, I
didn't have to use it as often as I anticipated.
Also, Database Programming with C# by Thomsen is a good
reference for the ADO/ADO.NET questions you may have.

Its hard to recommend a book because everyone's idea of a
good book is different. These books work for me, they
might not be the best tool for you. When I'm shopping for
a good reference book I go to Barnes and Noble and sit in
the aisle with a stack of books and I skim through them
and read the indexes until I find the book that will suit
my current needs.

I'm sorry I can't do more to help you. Good luck!!

You can't always trust the reader reviews on Amazon.com
though, once again, its someone else's opinion. What is
good for them might not be good for you, I learned that
the hard way.

yes the Safari collection is pretty good... I am a member of DevX Premier
Club which also offers Safari books (as does InformIt). Reading through the
reviews at sites like Amazon.com will also give you a good idea of the books
content.

DevX has a .NET Zone with some free video hands on labs on C#. DevX and
Informit also have good tutorials and articles..

Why not sign up for a trial subscription to the Safari Bookshelf at
http://safari.oreilly.com? They have *many* C# books, including one
I've found quite helpful: "Programming C#, 3rd Edition" by Jesse
Liberty.

If the Safari Bookshelf helps you avoid buying one unnecessary computer
book, it will pay for itself. Having to learn several new technologies
at once (ASP, ADO, SQL Server, HTML) I've found it invaluable.

P.S. Not affiliated with Safari or O'Reilly in any way - - just a very
satisfied customer. [RF]

... I am a member of DevX Premier Club ...

I went to look at the DevX site to see what the Premier Club is all
about, but everytime I clicked on any link that was remotely Premier
Club related, I got a login screen.

You'd think they'd have a description of what they're selling,
someplace.

So what is the Premier Club?

P.S. I did snap up their RSS feeds, though.
