Depends on what you want to teach them, I suppose. Some would say that
playboy.com would teach them _plenty_, but that's probably not what you
meant.

Try here.... www.kiddonet.com (DO NOT go to kiddonet.net_
used it for my youngest from ages 6-12

KiddoNet is a TOTAL Internet environment for children (ages 3-12).
KiddoNet's mission is to offer kids an on-line space with high quality
content and web tools that allow them to create, learn, play and communicate
safely.
KiddoNet Complete is KiddoNet's software package that can be downloaded (5
MB) from http://www.kiddonet.com/Install/Full/IE4/kiddonet.exe or
distributed on CD. This software package includes the KiddoNet Safe Browser,
and three separate age-based activity areas: Kids On Board (Ages 3 - 6), The
Fast Lane (ages 7 and up), and The Place for Parents and Teachers.

What is KiddoNet's Safe Browser?

Using KiddoNet’s kid-friendly SAFE browser, children have the freedom to
surf the Net and explore its positive aspects without gaining access to
inappropriate sites and material.

KiddoNet's safe browser gives kids access to the web through the following
gateways:

Great Sites - Web sites selected by KiddoNet's editorial and content
experts.

My Favorites - Parents can add sites that they choose together with their
children. When a site is added to the approved list, the browser allows free
surfing within the domain but does not allow linking to sites that are
outside that domain.

I know I'm Using a bit of bandwidth, but the poster seemed serious...

My youngest did that at age 3 (he's 11 now), but he has always been very
computer literate. He loves to learn and likes being able to do web
searches for all the things he wants to learn, which includes doing
research on the things he wants to do off the computer.

I see no problem with that. He uses a filtered internet provider and
I'm always watching what he is doing, so he's perfectly safe.
