That wolf photo really is excellent. It looks almost surreal!

Great photos, all of them.

Now where's me camera ...

Years of planning and probably many thousands spent on equipment, just wondering how he would have felt if the judges had given him 2nd..

Superb photo though no denying that..

That wolf photo is superb, it's like an illustration from a very disturbing fairy story, which is probably why I like it so much.

I like it but more so dont like it !!!! and only because it is not "real"..of course it was a real time photo ,but it was a staged shot that probably has been remastered loads of times regarding colour(ie..black/grey) and atmospheric prescence . The photographer set up a infra red light trap ,used a camera all of us cannot afford .

Hasselblad 503CW £3,500
with a 6x6 Fujichrome backing
+ Planar 80mm lens; £750
1/30 sec at f11; ISO 50; purpose-made Ficap infrared camera trap

so over 4.5 k and we have a chance...

sorry to be a pain but i believe there are better shots out there :)
(maybe the lens was included with the camera but £3.5k)

"Wildlife photographer Mark Carwardine was one of the competition judges. He told BBC News that this was the first time in its 46 year history that there would not be a winner.

Mr Carwardine explained that he and his fellow judges had gathered evidence and sought the opinions of wolf experts in order to reach their decision.

The experts compared the winning picture to pictures of Ossian, a tame wolf that lives at a zoological park near Madrid called Canada Real.

"You can see several very distinctive markings and the experts all agreed that, yes, it's the same wolf," said Mr Carwardine.

"We disqualified [Mr Rodriguez] and banned him for life from entering the competition again, so I think that sends a strong message.""

No chance of asking him now .

He is still a very handsome wolf. I've got him on my desktop, because it's still a good photo, regardless of whether he's wild or tame. I'd be more than happy to give him a pat too. :D

Aww, they're gorgeous aren't they! Thank you AB, it's a very nice piccie :thumb: :D
