When I convert a report to an Excel file (Analyze with Excel) the leading
zeros are wiped even though the field/data type is string/text.

How can I correct this - If I add ' to the beginning Excel then displays
this.

Hi,

I believe the problem is that excel looks at the first twenty records to
determine the column type, and it is seeing what it believes are number, so
truncates the zeros. You saw that by inserting a text value, that this
works around the issue. Another option is to when exporting to tick save as
formatted.

I hope this helps.

You saw that by inserting a text value, that this
works around the issue. Id didn't: it either lost the zeros (field type
was text) or inserted ' (when I added ') or inserted " (when I added ").
Shall try export as formatted but there is no option for this - just Analyse
with Excel - The file is created immediately without any options window
appearing.

When I chose File, Export, Excel the save as formatted box was ticked but
greyed out. Again, the leading zeros are lost.
