I read this from a post posted a while ago about LDX distro of
Litesteps.

Looks interesting. And my question is, if I already have
Litesteps installed, can I still try it? Or I need to
uninstall Litesteps first? (btw, saw that it is 8mb
download).

Has anyone used it?

Yes. I mentioned this a few days ago but you wouldn't have seen it,
given the problems you've been having. It's very sound and quite a
bit different from the usual LiteStep setup. Despite the download
size it's no more demanding of memory - ran at about 12 Mb for me.

I think you need to switch back to explorer.exe to start it - it's
built on a slightly different distro from the usual one. Only problem
I had with it was the built-in shell-switcher which refused to
acknowledge my existence :-)

I suggest ShellOn V3
http://www.dx13.co.uk/programs/index.html

which is beta but stable and easy to configure.

LDE(X) is very interesting and I'll continue to try it, but I see no
real advantage over ordinary LiteStep for the uses I put it to.

Yes, now problem solved, it was my age-old (never cleaned up)
Xnews score file.

Interesting. I think I will certainly keep this build in mind
for future use. Although I personally don't have a use for it
for now (I love the theme I currently have), it will certainly
be useful when I try to troubleshoot some friends' older
systems. They will be happy to have the preformance with not
much RAM and room for upgrading.
