Has anyone used ms windows 2000 server as a top ldap server? I'm trying to
setup win2k as a top ldap server but I don't know where to start. I mainly
want to integrate username/password in between Sun One Directory and win2k
AD.

Hi,

Microsoft has a product called "Active Directory Application Mode" or
"AD/AM", which is like Active Directory, but not tied so tightly into
WIndows (but it's XP Pro or Win2K3 Server only).

Here're some links:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B9-1034-4EF6-A3E5-2A2A57B5C8E4&displaylang=en

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/adam/default.mspx

Then, if you need to synchronize, I think you'll need something like
MIIS:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/directory/miis/default.mspx

or SimpleSync:

http://www.cps-systems.com/

I think that MIIS lists Sun One, but the latter doesn't.

If you already have AD and Sun One Directory, then you can use MIIS 2003
(Microsoft Identity Integration Server) to synchronize both directories. It
can sync passwords between them.
Another option is SimpleSync from http://www.cps-systems.com/ that can do
that (not sure of passwords though)
