Hi to all,
We have 5 dc serving 7 exchange server, another 2 exchange server for
inbound gateway connections, 2 bridgehead outcoming servers, 1 exchange
server outboud gateway, 1 OWA server. so we have a total of 13 exchange to
query LDAP. Is this practical cause still we have slow connections sometimes.
Do you have any suggestions on this matter. Thanks in advance..

A DC can cope with a lot more LDAP queries than 13 ;-)

Although Exchange does seem to like GCs. How many of the 5 DCs are GCs? No
reason not to make them all GCs really...

4 of 5 DC is GC. I was thinking how to optimize my exchange server query and
I thought my GC is not enough. Any suggestions cause my boss is always
complaining maybe he like to get his mailbox in just 5-10 seconds. Our
network is consistent so network is not our issue. Thanks a lot.

The basic guideline is 4 Exchange Procs to each GC proc. This is identical
processor types and speeds so 1 HT processor won't handle 8 Exchange normal procs.

Depending on how large your DIT file is and the DC OS you may get benefit by
enabling /3gb.

Thanks a Lot Mr. Joe Richards for your TIPS . Our MX server has 8 GB ECC
SDRAM.Hope to hear from you again once I have another Inquiry in the future.

/3GC on a DC determines how caching is done. Depending on your OS type on your
DC, the size of your DIT, and how much RAM you have /3gb may or may not help.

In general, if you have W2K advanced and you have >512MB of RAM and the DIT is
that large or better enable /3GB.

If you have W2K Standard, under no circumstances do not enable /3GB.

If you have 2K3 and >2GB of RAM and the DIT >1.5GB enable /3GB.

Thanks again!
