lcd monitor/on or off

Just purchased a 17 in lcd monitor, first one I've owned. This is probably a
dumb question, but when the monitor is switched off, should the power supply
be turned off also, unplugged. Something about the green light glowing at
all times seems to bother me. Then again, unplugging a lot might not be
good. Way it is now, computer is used 3, 4 hrs of morning, turned off and
unplugged till next day. Anyway, any info on this will be appreciated.

If you switch it on\off every day, the switch wears out. If you leave it
switched on always, the psu is drawing current. You`ll probably get another
ten posts now. <g>.

Not necessarily, but you could if you really wanted to.

Rememberances of an alien abduction? ;-)
You could replace the green led with a more soothing blue
led? You get used to LEDs after awhile... sometimes I
replace them with ultra-bright white LEDs, when they're
oriented such that they shine out unobtrusively into the
room, they make good nightlights.
Then again, unplugging a lot might not be

If it's important to you to have everything unplugged,
unplug it. I'd expect most people don't, though, and thus
there isn't much reliability data for such a scenario. If
the supply is properly designed, it should tolerate being
unplugged... but I don't know if it is, and it may be a
semi-commodity item and not even the same exact PSU as
shipped on last year's model.

If you are really unplugging rather than just switching off the computer
for some reason then I guess that the same logic would apply to the
monitor. But if I were doing it I'd have a switched power strip or surge
suppressor. Simply flipping that one switch would effectively disconnect
everything that was plugged into it from the power mains -- computer,
monitor, or anything else within the current carrying capacity of the strip.
