LCD Monitor need alignment?

I have a 15" SYS LCD monitor model 154UG, manufacture date January 2002. The
display USED to fully fill the screen. But when I was working in Linux and
Windows, I found every time I went to windows, I had to resync (hitting the
"2" button to auto-align). I fixed that problem from the windows side and
then I ended up rebuilding my system. The new motherboard was such that
every time I used WinTV, the display would jump and blur, so I had to resync
every time that happened. I since replaced the motherboard and video, so
that doesn't happen anymore. Things are such that I don't need to keep
resyncing the monitor to get the display right, finally.

However, I'm wondering if all the previous resyncing I did has thrown my
monitor out of alignment? If you'll look at this link:

the "black space" btween the display area and the edges of the screen. When
I'm sitting at the monitor, there's a larger amount of black space on the
left and bottom than there is on the right and top.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to readjust this so that the display
again fills in the black space (or fills it in more evening). It didn't used
to be like that when I had got this monitor brand-new. I won't mind if I
even have to take the cover off and adjust something on the inside. I just
would like to know WHAT to adjust, where to find that adjustment and how to
do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

check in the menu for the monitor...and then stretch the screen. If you
have changed video it is possible the monitor does not accurately detect and
resync. I have an LCD with auto-sync and it does not sync correctly so I
had to manually adjust it.

Unfortunately, moving the screen won't make it go past. It's as if the
actual display area has actually shrunk somehow. There's only
H.Position/V.Position on the menu and the display just stops at the black
areas, not filling them. The Phase/clock either doesn't seem to do anything
at all, or blurs a portion of the screen text, making it a little bolder and
fatter. No way to actually make the screen larger from the menu on this one.

Except that connector (DVI) is supposed to be on its way out...I vaguely
remember seeing that there is a newer one and it is already available on
some monitors.

Wasn't my choice, really. I don't have money (limited income) to buy
anything. My old monitor (a CTX - another good brand) was 4 yrs. old and
going, so a friend bought me this LCD one about 2 years ago. It's a nice
monitor, but don't know what the problem is with that blackened area.

Oh, you mean to use a TV set for a monitor? I have S/Video out on my video
card but the cable that came with it has the two S-video plugs (it's not a
ViVo either) and my TV set has RCA jacks for video in/out and audio in/out.
:( So I haven't been able to afford and/or locate an adaptor yet.

Would be neat to have it working on a TV set but I rather a nice lightweight
monitor for normal use (ie. when I'm not playing games or watching TV or a
DVD or something like that).

They have to change everything with computers :-) Imagine the outcry if they changed the 240 outlet at the wall but unnecessary
changes in PCs are common place.
