LCD Monitor Calibration????

Hi All,

Anyone out there know of a decent freeware/shareware utility for
optimizing LCD monitor paramaters, (gamma, brightness, contrast,
etc)??

I tried Quick Gamma and didn't achieve anything of merit.

I'm aware of the calibration systems with the screen puck, but really
don't want to go to that extreme if I don't have to.

What utilities came with the LCD monitor? Personally, I have
always relied on the old Mark 1 Eyeball and a very pleasant and
colorful scenic *.jpg file.
 
Monitor came with NOTIN!!!!!

I had to download the monitor.inf file from their website which did
nothing different from XP's standard PNP choice.

I've been visually tweaking and doing some reading about LCD monitor
gamma curves.

It looks pretty good now, I've generated different profiles for
different lighting conditions.

Just wanted to know if there was something out there to do a better
job.

Here are two sites that will help you to judge contrast, brightness and gamma...

For best presentation of text, employ ClearType (sub-pixel technology)...

Note that you can do this on-line, or with a downloadable Control Panel
applet that is available via a link on the page.
