I recently bought an LG 47" 47LBX LCD HDTV (absolutely stunning) and want to
hook it up with a Radeon X1950XT graphic card in my PC. The ATI control
panel offers several options for HDTV (e.g., 1080p). Do they matter? Can I
just treat my LG LCD TV as an LCD PC monitor?

Set it to the native res of your new LCD HDTV. If the TV is a 1080p
model then just choose 1080p in the ATI control panel. If it is 720p
then the native res is probably 1366x768 and that makes it a lot more
awkward to setup if the ATI card doesn't offer that res. You can choose
720p but it won't be the ideal resolution for PC use. Fine for games
that offer that res though. You will need to create a custom 1366x768
resolution, if ATI control panel doesn't offer that res then you can use
Powerstrip to create one.
