layering of series in XY plot

Howdy,

I'm plotting a series of xy points on an XY Chart. I've
also added a '1:1' trend line to the plot as a second
series with the markers turned off and 'line' turned on.

However the points plot themselves over-top of the line,
regardless of how I order the series. Is there a way
around this?

I think what you want is different from LeAnne's suggestion. Do you want
the line to lie on top of the points, blocking them from view? When
Excel draws a line chart, all the lines are drawn underneath all the
markers. However, if the markers are plotted on the primary axis, and
the line is plotted on the secondary axis, the line will be drawn in
front of the markers. Make the chart with all your series, then select
the line series, press CTRL+1 to format it, and on the Axis tab, choose
Secondary and click OK. Since you don't need the secondary axis, choose
Chart Options from the Chart menu, click on the Axis tab, and uncheck
any secondary axes. The series will remain in separate chart axis
groups, even though they use the same axes.

Thanks to both Jon and LeAnne ... both worked. I ended up using the trend
line option. The line I needed to plot was just a 1:1 line (very simple)
and made a second series (not plotted) that had the used the x-variable from
the point-series, but plotted against itself (hence 1:1). I then use this
non-plotted series as the basis for a linear trend line. Like I mentioned,
this was fine since the line I needed to plot was essentially a trend line
anyway (just not a trend for the plotted point series), but I was wondering
how it could be done if I had to plot a complex (ie. second series) line.
Jon's response seems to be the answer.
