anytime I reboot or log back into the computer, the default launch link changes to some search engine site instead of the one I set in the tools section for my home page. Can't seem to get rid of this...any ideas.

Now if I close explorer, don't log out and then relaunch, then it is ok.

See

Run the "Cool Web Shredder"
check for update first.
http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
Close all instances of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express,
click on the executable above and follow the prompts.

This is caused by parasites.
