In access 97 is there a way to launch and external
application? i.e. can you create a hyperlink in a field for
a .PDF file that when you click on it the adobe reader
program will launch and the file get opened?

By its nature, storing a hyperlink to a PDF will launch the appropriate
reader (assuming it's installed). To store a hyperlink, simply create a
hyperlink field in a table and type in the address.

On my website (see sig below) is a small sample database called
"SetHyperlink" that allows you to browse to a document and save the
hyperlink in a field.

Hello Roger,

I downloaded your sample database but I only access97 do
you have one for 97?

I am no longer developing in Access 97, but I was able to convert it
backwards and I have added it to my site.
