Launching Excel or Word Files from A web page

When I open a Excel or word file from a web page it open
excel or word within the IE session. How do i chnge it so
that it launches Excel or word seperatly?

Try opening Windows Explorer.
Tools --> Folder Options
File Types tab
Scroll down to .xls (or .doc)
Click the advanced button
Uncheck "browse in same window" box
