I use office XP
When I try to lauch a .pps file, the powerpoint program
is loaded but only as an item on the programbar at the
right of the start button. I cannot open the application
by double click, a right click gives no menu for restore
or move etc.
When I look at the task manager the program is in the
list but cannot be switched to.
Reinstall of office brings no soluution.
The only ways I can use these files is by changing the
file to a .ppt extension, or launch the file by starting
powerpoint and then use the open command.
Anybody recognizes the problem?

You more than likely need to adjust your file associations so that .pps file are recognised by PowerPoint. This should help.
