Just FYI - I removed Foxmail from my list - it was trying to access
some chinese server via port 80. It's gone until I find out why.

Well, I can tell you that exactly. It seems that in the Chinese version
a SMS feature is active, you can send those messages from FoxMail...
the server for that is "sms.foxmail.com.cn".

Now, in the English version this feature is not selectable, however on
startup the program tries to logon to that server (you need an account
there) over port 80. I sniffed that connection (of course <grin>), and
all that was "exchanged" was a page request, the page came in (you can
see what it looks like by going there with your browser) and the logon
was rejected... that is all!

I already contacted (through some back alleys) the developers about
this and in the mean time I added this server to my hosts file... Done!

No spyware, no "hidden data exhange, just something they forgot to
disable IMHO!

Dick

Another mystery solved. Thanks very much.

Fooled me, I guess. I thought Tiger was a committed Moz-offspring mail
client user. (The clumsy language is because I can never keep the Moz
offspring's names straight.) Maybe I'm thinking of him and the
Moz-offspring browser-only browser. :)

I did at one time. I just suggested that it was better than Phoenix
mail...which is still in early development. I think Phoenix will
*eventually* be better...at least I hope so. At the moment, I'm using
Pegasus when in Windows.

Hey! Found just what I've been looking for on your site:
MicroWav, a minimal wav player. You can't believe (actually, I'm sure you
can) the programs that were suggested by google for a "minimal wav player
freeware". Already got MicroWav installed and made the default assoc for
..wav files!

Hey, we let Canada play. :)

And you let us win, too. 2 years in a row, not so long ago as I recall.

Of course, we couldn't have done it without *your* Puerto Ricans. };O)

We were letting you distract yourselves, while we went after your bacon.

And we can't, without the Dominicans[1]. :)

[1]And no, I don't mean the friars.[2]
[2]Who'd naturally be playing for the Padres.[3]
[3]Who'd be hoping for help from the Cardinals.[4]
[4]Who'd be waiting for instructions from the Angels.

Checking out your list and there are a few programs I have not tried, that
I will.

I guarantee these programs suck less than most! :-)
Just wanted to ask if you have used QCD player for mp3 ??? I used to use
cool player but have found QCD faultless, using it for the last year or so
IMHO the best .Mp3 player there is.

Thanks! I'm on my way, and I'll give it a fair shot. Right after another cup
of coffee! :-)
