latest update problem in applying it

Today I ran update for the 4 new critical updates that
were released. I downloaded them fine but applying them
has taken over 2 hours and counting. Anyone else have
this problem?
 
Jesse, for me it seemed like it took an unusually long time to download
but it installed Ok.

My problem is the same as yours, Jesse R. Except that

the install has been 3 hours & still installing. That's
why I'm here, trying to find out if it is just me. I had
5 critical updates to install. The one it seems to be
hung up on is KB837001, which, I found, has to do with the
Jet Service Pack. Something I hadn't yet installed. When
it began just hanging, I looked at the Task Manager. The
number under the Memory Usage never seemed to change.
After an hour or so, I wondered if my machine had just
frozen, so clicked the close button on the Web Page
Dialog. When it told me that if I navigated away, there'd
be trouble, I cancelled. Took a look at the Task Manager
again & the Mem Usage number had jumped way up again. It
has slowly gone down. That's when I decided to come
looking on the site to see if anyone else had this
problem. I guess I'll just wait, but I sure wish
MicroSoft had made some mention of how long this install
would take. At this rate, there'll be no sleep for tonite
(it's now 3:00 AM, my time).
 
There is clearly a big probelm with these latest updates. My XP laptop refused to install 3 of them claiming they were not approved by MS! and then kept freezing. When I tried to do a System Restore it would not work because of a corrup atl.dll file. Having been trying to fix it all afternoon, I have had to resort to a 'repair' of XP. Thanks Microsoft - another fine job!
