Can someone please tell me what the deal is with having to click that stupid
grey box on nav menus using FLASH?
Go to http://www.flashbuttons.com/
and you will see what I mean.
It totally ruins the design/usability of a site.
Is there a way to get IE working Normally again with FLASH??

Thanks.

Hi codeman,

Works fine for me. Check your security settings and ActiveX Compatibility
for the Flash ActiveX control. (I assume you are a coder and know what I am
talking about).

Sorry - the grey box outline of the flash nav menus... mmmm Try a hardwired
style to remove the outlining. Seems that the default behavior of IE and
mshtml.dll places a border around <object> tags on mouseover.

Great site! I don't find any problem with IE's outlining but I note that you
cannot resize the text of the pages.

Regards.

Thanks for the Reply, Rob.
However, my biggest concern here is usability for my visitors.
Go to www.Macromedia.com and you'll get the grey boxes there also.
This new browser update is.. well, ummm..

Forgot to mention, these grey boxes, continually prompt with "Click to
Activate control"
Everything is set to Enable in my browser.
No problems with Flash until this update.

Hi codeman,

Yep. I understand your disappointment. This usergroup is supported by
volunteers. We can only hope that the MS developers are monitoring user
complaints here.

Did you try styling to remove the <object> outlining on your site? Probably
best to wait for a fix for this latest WU.

Regards.

If I understand it correctly from other sources, the prompt isn't going away
until MS changes IE to use different controls for the OBJECT, EMBED, and
APPLET tags and developers update their code. This change causes huge
problems for WYSIWYG people who don't know code.

If the usability means that much to you, I would suggest informing your
customers of the problem and what steps they can take to elimiate it.
