Seems you must remove previous build in order to install new/latest one

There is no need but your download must clearly indicate:
"This is an Upgrade" - "Do you wish to proceed" on the *first screen*

This is not correct. The new build should immediately offer an upgrade. If
you are seeing otherwise, you are probably getting the old build. Sit tight
and try again after a few hours.

After downloading and running the install and choosing upgrade - I'm still
left with version Version: 1.0.615? Is the version Build 1.0.701 available?

You may have to go to anti-spyware home page to manually download and install
the new update. Auto Update may not be up and running yet.

Thanks but ..

I have done the following over a period of time:
1) Used the File/Check for updates from the Beta 1 UI - this seems to
update the spyware definitions (i'm on Spyware Definition Version: 5733
(11/25/2005 7:52:19 but not the build version
2) Downloaded from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en&Hash=Y6V6654
This has moved me to Version: 1.0.615
3) Uninstaled the product
4) Deleted my download
5) Re download and install
Im still on Version: 1.0.615

There is a slightly ambiguos sentence on the download page: "Existing users
of the beta (Build 1.0.615) will receive a software update that includes the
new beta refresh. The latest beta refresh is also available for download
through this site."
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en) (There is no link)
Is this a separate download? - If it is I can find no reference to it
Thanks

The intent is that the download you receive from the link you've posted will
be build .701.

There will also be auto-update available, as stated at the web page.

It took me two trys--over dialup--to update my fathers machine starting on
Wednesday night.

Hi,
This morning I:
Tried the update from UI - no updated resulted
Downloaded the update to local drive and ran it - no updated resulted
Ran the download from Download page - Update to 7x successful

Thanks Bill - seems to 'work' eventually.
Regards,
JW

Glad you persisted. I am seeing increasing numbers of reports of the
automatic update appearing.
