I have an old 9600 Pro and after fresh install using latest drivers I'm now
faced with "CATALYST Control Centre" which I hate, I'm not a gamer so no
real need for latest drivers I guess just looking for latest drivers that
used the classic control panel, does anyone know what version that was and
where I could grab it.

TIA

This is a pain to try and explain but here goes: Go here first
http://tinyurl.com/3pm2v
Then on the left hand site of the page click on Drivers and Software. Then
XP (if that's what you're running) then Radeon, now you'll see Previous
Drivers and Software. Click that and you'll see down the page a bit the
Catalyst 5.5 drivers. Click that and scroll down to the Low speed (dial-up)
section. There you'll see the Display driver, and right under it the good
old Control Panel.
Hope this helps, JLC

You can in fact use the latest display drivers, but install the control
panel from a previous release, like Catalyst 6.3 for ATi FireMV cards.

When you first run the driver executable, it extracts all the installation
files to a folder, by default it's C:\ATi\Support . Simply cancel the
installation after that, browse to the folder, then navigate to the control
panel folder, and run setup from there.

JLC & First of One, many thanks for your input been able to sort it with old
Control Panel thanks to tiny url link and then using latest drivers only,
works a charm so once again thanks to both of you for your help.

Glad to hear you got it figured out. I really don't like the new AMD/ATI
site. It makes finding things harder then they already where. I hope that
they'll keep working on it and make it better. JLC
