Is it possible to retrive the last access date of any application in Windows
XP? Is there any registry key that stores this information?

if you right click on an icon on the desktop it should say when that program
was last accessed, pete ;-)

thx pete. i wish it was so simple. If i check this in the properties of
application(after right clicking on shortcut like u said),it gives me current
date even if i havent used that app for one month.
thought there would be some registry key that gets updated whenever the
executable (.exe) of any app is run...

thanx anyways :)

ok, what about having a look in the add & remove programs section, i am sure
that in the list it tells you when the program was last accessed, let me know
;-) pete

yeah, tried that approach too. But Add/Remove Programs only uses Start Menu to
see when the program was last used. So if a user uses Quick Launch toolbar or
desktop shortcuts to start programs, the “Last Used Date†field in Add/Remove
programs does not reflect the correct timestamp. Hence this information is
not reliable and if u test it right away, u will see it gives junk value for
most of the programs in the list.

you can find more about it on the follwing link:
