LaserJet IIIP question

I have a LaserJet IIIP set up with menu defaults. Prints one sheet
perfectly from about any application i.e. Word, Excel, Internet
Explorer. However for any document with more than one page, the
printer inserts a blank sheet of paper between each printed page when
"Print all" command is issued.

I can issue a command to print page 1 then commmand page 2, and so on
and I don't get the blank sheet between each printed page. I believe
I have something set wrong. I am running XP Pro.

Any help would be appreciated by a post here.

TIA

Does the page size in your applications and printer driver setting
match that of the printer panel (eg, both A4 or both Letter)?

Also check the setting for lines per page - typically should be 60

Could also be a driver problem - that's a pretty old printer for WinXP. If
XP installed it without additional drivers, it's probably OK. But if you
upgraded from an earlier version of Windoze or installed HP's own drivers,
it might be a problem.

Two more things you could try in addition to the suggestions from Alan and
Bennett. Try blowing away the printer in the Device Manager and letting
Windoze reinstall it. If that doesn't work, check HP's site for an XP
version of the driver, or, if that's not available, a Win2000 version.

Thanks to all who posted. I found that my IIIP does not send the
extra blank sheet when I use the Upper "multifunction tray." The
extra sheet comes when paper is fed from the lower paper cassette
which is an installed option with this printer. I had the "LC" only
checked in menu. I tried using "both" from menu and still get the
extra blank page when paper is fed from the lower cassette. I guess I
will just have to use the upper tray when printing more than one page.
Or keep experimenting until I find out why the extra sheet is fed from
the lower cassette. Again thanks for the input, and if you have any
ideas, I would appreciate hearing them. BTW the driver is the one
that comes with XP Prof.

Sounds like you have the solution to my problem. I have never had the
41 error, just the alternating blank sheets of paper. I'll buy the
kit and give it a try Thanks again, wwh

Mr. Chuck

Hope it works out for you, but everyone is surprised on the fix and it
really works. (You'll know what I mean when you get the repair kit)

Good Luck!
