Got an LJ 2550 with no sign of life;
No lights, no motor spin up, no fans, no nothing

Also no manual, and my access to HP tech expired :(

I pulled the LV power supply, fuses OK, no signs of trauma to
board components.

Any thoughts? I know it's a cheapie, but it has all new carts in it
and I hate to toss it.

Thanks!

Sounds like a 'test meter job'

To enable you to check the line voltage to its PSU (Power Supply Unit
and from there onwards, trust you checked all the fuses, there ar
fuses that look like transistors these day's, these are calle
circuit protectors as opposed to the glass tubes types we all know s
well

So difficult to say without 'hands on' experience, cos it could b
almost anything, are the voltage regulators regulating at thei
designed voltage?, Test meter or digi-meters are cheap these day'
but who gotta know where to poke their prods without any mistakes o
incorrect meter settings

If a switch-mode type PSU then look at the start up voltage thi
usually taken from the rectified line voltage at the smoothin
capacitor usually via a resistor that drops the voltage to a lowis
level to drive the control circuitry that the switch-mode or choppe
transistor/FET needs to operate, without this everything will appea
dead

Having said all that it could be something so simple as a faulty powe
switch, again a test meter will prove the point

Got the meter, just no schematic.
Switch is OK, but don't what V levels to expect at test points.

I assume the LV board is shot, but wondered if anyone had encountered external
issues that cause the LV board to shutdown.

I've found an LV board for about $100, but not sure I want to gamble that on a
printer that sells new for $400. Like I said the toner carts are all new, so
maybe it's worth a shot

Thanks!
