A laser is a device that emits light (electromagnetic radiation)
through a process called stimulated emission. The term "laser" is an
acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of
Radiation.Laser light is usually spatially coherent, which means that
the light either is emitted in a narrow, low-divergence beam, or can
be converted into one with the help of optical components such as
lenses. Typically, lasers are thought of as emitting light with a
narrow wavelength spectrum ("monochromatic" light).

Did anyone actually request such a definition here? Perhaps I missed
it... I think, in general, when people refer to 'laser' here, since it
is a printer forum, that are referring to a laser printer, some of which
do indeed incorporate a laser to project a beam of light which is used
to "write" to a light sensitive drum or belt. The terms is sometimes
used to include printers which use an LED array to replace that laser
beam, but which uses similar writing technologies using very finely
(usually ground) static charged particles which are transfered to paper
and then melted to its surface.
