Hi,

I would like to know what the largest ATA drive that is supported on the
A7V600.

I have a 160gb ATA drive that formats to 126gb when formatted on an
80-conductor IDE cable. The same drive formats to 147gb when formated
through the USB port.

Someone suggested that the A7V600 IDE may not support "LBA 48 bit". I could
not find this information in the manual or on the Asus webpage. Does anyone
know how I can find out?

Thanks.

The largest you can buy now or in the near future. I mean, it's a pretty
recent board.

Is the drive size recognized correctly by the board BIOS? If so, I'd
assume the OS you used was too old or lacked an update for 48 bit LBA
support.

I'd assume the BIOS is at least from late 2002? 48 bit LBA support is a
standard feature nowadays.
