Any tips on dealing with extremely large folders with over 20,000 items in them? How long will it take to clean these up? Any shortcuts? I think the user has Outlook 2000 with Exchange if these matter. I can get the exact data when I get back to work tomorrow

Should we go to "work offline mode" to get the files cleaned out of these two folders

TIA for any advice.

Working off-line wouldn't help as you'll have to get them from the Exchange
server, right? If the other folders aren't that large you could export those
and then clean the mailbox in Exchange. Then import the valid mails again.
You'll loose however custom views, forms and the original dates of the
messages.
Another way to go is to use SHIFT+DELETE when deleting the items to skip the
Deleted Items folder.
