Hi guys. I'm about to buy a new mac to use for desktop publishing and
digital video. I want a BIG screen - the biggest I can afford. Screen
real estate is everything to me.

In a perfect world, I'd get Apple's 30 inche monitor, but that won't
leave me enough money to get the G5 and other stuff I want. So that
leaves me with a few options:

1. Get Apple's 23";

2. Get the new Dell 24", which I hear is of similar quality and about
$800 Cdn cheaper;

3. Get some other monitor ... LCD? Plasma? There are so many options
out there, and I don't really understand the technology. I can see
myself spending up to $2000 cdn on this new monitor ... what's the
biggest and best (i.e. for quality, image, resolution) I can get?

Thanks for your help!

I recently got the Dell 2405FPW 24" wide-screen monitor (it was
recently on sale for $960/US). I love it... not only is it huge, but
really bright and much quicker than my old 19" Samsung LCD. At
1920x1200 native resolution, just make sure your video card can handle
it.

My Iiyama pro 454 can go up to 1920x1440. I use it at a very sharp 1920x1200
(75 or 85 hz). It cost me £350 new a few years ago, but you can get them now
for under £200.

Had you considered 2 smaller screens side-by-side?? Most graphics cards now
support at least 2 screens.
