Hi,

I'm running vista SP1 and store a lot of VERY large files, 29gb is not
unusual.

These files are mainly video AVI files.

Each time I access the directory which hold these files my systems hangs for
about 10 minutes and then works again. If I move my mouse over one of these
files, it seems to work, but shortly afterwards it hangs again.

In the background I can hear the discs working overtime and windows resource
monitor clocks up massive disc usage.

Looking through support forums, they suggested turning off thumbnails, which
I did but there was no difference.

Any thoughts?

For reference my system is as follows:

AMD x64 - 6000 (3gz)
4gb main memory
adaptec 5805 raid controller, controlling 2 arrays
Array 1 3 x 500gb - 1TB available
Array 2 4 x 1TB - 3TB available

The files are stored on array 1

Download ShellExView and try disabling Video Thumbnail Extractor. I don't
know if it will fix the problem, but it might help.
